چکیده
The catalytic decarbonylation of aldehydes has been developed using commercially available [IrCl(cod)](2) and PPh(3) under mild conditions, and the method could be widely applicable to various substrates with different functionalities.

Nickel-Catalyzed Decarbonylation of Aromatic Aldehydes.
We report here the first systematic study of nickel-catalyzed decarbonylation of aromatic aldehydes under relatively mild conditions. Aldehydes with electron donating groups at para and ortho positions are generally successful with our method. For aldehydes with electron-withdrawing groups, significantly higher yields were achieved for ortho-substituted substrates than para ones, probably due t...
متن کاملNew catalytic asymmetric strategies to access chiral aldehydes.
The present article describes the recent catalytic asymmetric methods developed in our group to access enantioenriched chiral aldehydes. We are generally aiming at developing complementary strategies based on either homogeneous organometallic catalysts or amino-catalysts and sometimes on a combination of both. Recent successes comprise a perfectly redox-economical iridium-catalyzed asymmetric ...
متن کاملEco-Friendly Liquid Phase Oxidation of Some Aromatic Aldehydes With Sodium Perborate Catalyzed by Iridium (III)
Seven aromatic aldehydes dissolved in aqueous acetic acid were oxidized in quantitative to good yields by sodium perborate in presence of traces of IrCl3. Conditions were obtained for getting the highest yields under the experimental conditions.
متن کاملThe Retro-Hydroformylation Reaction.
Hydroformylation, a reaction that adds carbon monoxide and dihydrogen across an unsaturated carbon-carbon multiple bond, has been widely employed in the chemical industry since its discovery in 1938. In contrast, the reverse reaction, retro-hydroformylation, has seldom been studied. The retro-hydroformylation reaction of an aldehyde into an alkene and synthesis gas (a mixture of carbon monoxide...
متن کاملUnsaturated aldehydes as alkene equivalents in the Diels-Alder reaction.
A one-pot procedure is described for using alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes as olefin equivalents in the Diels-Alder reaction. The method combines the normal electron demand cycloaddition with aldehyde dienophiles and the rhodium-catalyzed decarbonylation of aldehydes to afford cyclohexenes with no electron-withdrawing substituents. In this way, the aldehyde group serves as a traceless control ...
